Vintage Omega Ranchero
Omega's own vintage database lists three Ranchero references, all from 1958, all hand-wound. The reference inside the caseback tells you which calibre is in yours: the 267, or the 284 or 285 with a centre seconds hand.
References from Omega's vintage database. Calibre data and parts counts from Omega's GF 620-3 catalogue; tap a calibre for its parts.
The three references
The reference is stamped inside the caseback. The letters in front of it give the metal.
| Reference | Year | Calibre | Case | Back | Water |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CK 2990 | 1958 | 267 | Stainless steel | Press-in | 3 bar (30 m) |
| CK 2996 | 1958 | 284 or 285 | Stainless steel | Press-in | 3 bar (30 m) |
| PK 2996 | 1958 | 284 or 285 | Gold-filled | Press-in | 3 bar (30 m) |
All three are listed on a leather strap. Type any reference into the reference lookup for the full record.

The calibres, from the factory catalogue
All three are 30 mm calibres built on the 260, Omega's 30 mm base calibre, and beat 18,000 times an hour with 17 jewels.
| Calibre | Marked | Created | Seconds | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 267 | 30 T4 PC AM 17 pierres | 1957 | No centre seconds | The CK 2990 movement. |
| 284 | 30 SC T4 PC AM 17 pierres | 1957 | Centre seconds | The 267 with a centre seconds hand (SC). |
| 285 | 30 SC T5 PC AM 17 pierres | 1959 | Centre seconds | Renumbered 286 in 1963, per Omega's Technical Guide No. 27. |
Omega's regulating table for the 260 to 286 family gives a rate of 0 to +30 seconds a day in three positions.
Parts: the 284 and 285 share most of theirs
- 284 and 285: 34 part numbers in common, including the plate, 284.1000. The 285 has only one part with its own number, its barrel bridge 285.1001.
- 267 and 284: 21 part numbers in common. The 267 lists 30 parts, four with its own number.
- Several parts reach far beyond the Ranchero: one in-setting, 330.1341, fits 46 calibres in our records.
Search by the part number, not “Ranchero”. The parts finder gives every calibre each part fits.

What it's worth
With only three references, the checks are short: the reference, its calibre, and an original dial. A Ranchero is worth what the same reference with its correct calibre has actually sold for: use the “What they sold for” link above, not asking prices. What's my Omega worth? explains the method.
Is your Ranchero all original?
The reference, the calibre and the dial have to agree. Six photos and the weight, and I check them against Omega's own records and put it in writing. Nothing to pay until I confirm the photos can answer it.
Dating one
The serial is on the movement; the serial number lookup gives the year band. Omega lists all three Ranchero references in 1958, and the 285 was created in 1959, so a 285 dates from 1959 or later.
