Terms
Plain English. Read it before you send anything — it takes two minutes and it tells you exactly what you’re getting and what you aren’t.
What this is
Watch Breaker is operated by Union Boomer LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. I look at photographs of vintage Omega watches and tell you what I think you have: the calibre, the approximate age, what the case is made of, and roughly what it’s worth.
I work from photographs and from a weight you supply. I do not take physical possession of watches.
An estimate is not an appraisal
Everything I give you is an opinion based on photographs and figures you provide. It is not a formal appraisal, not an authentication certificate, and not a guarantee of value.
I have not handled the watch. I cannot see what a photograph does not show — hairline cracks, replaced parts under a bridge, plating worn through beneath a strap, corrosion inside a case.
I give ranges, not single figures. Metal calculations are derived from your stated weight and published alloy densities, and carry an error margin I will state on every report.
If you need a figure for insurance, probate, tax, or a legal dispute, you need a certified appraiser. That is not me.
I may want to buy your watch
If I think your watch is worth buying, I will tell you and make an offer. That makes me an interested party, not a neutral one.
I will always give you the valuation first and separately. Any offer comes afterwards, so you can see my number before you see my money.
Get a second opinion before you sell to me or to anyone. I would tell my own family the same thing. A valuation from someone who wants to buy is worth exactly as much as a second one from someone who doesn’t.
Your decisions are yours
You are responsible for what you do with anything I tell you. That includes deciding to sell, deciding not to sell, accepting or refusing an offer, or opening a watch yourself.
I am not liable for any loss, cost, or missed opportunity arising from a decision you make after reading one of my reports. If a watch sells for less than my estimate, or you turn down an offer that turns out to have been a good one, that outcome is yours.
Limit of liability
My total liability to you, for anything arising out of a report or this website, is limited to the amount you paid me for that report. If the report was free, that amount is zero.
I am not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic loss of any kind — including lost profit, lost sale value, or the difference between my estimate and any price actually achieved.
Nothing here limits liability for fraud or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.
Do not open your watch
The website explains how to test a case yourself. That information is provided because it is useful and because you have a right to it.
Opening a watch can scratch a case, break a gasket, damage a dial, or ruin a movement. If you do it, you do it at your own risk. If it is worth money to you, take it to a watchmaker.
Your photographs
When you send photographs you keep ownership of them. You give me permission to use them to prepare your report, and to keep an anonymised record — calibre, case reference, weight, metal — for reference.
I will not publish your photographs, your name, or anything identifying you without asking you first.
I will not sell your email address or pass your details to anyone.
Not affiliated with Omega
Watch Breaker has no connection to OMEGA SA, the Swatch Group, or any of their subsidiaries or authorised dealers. Omega is their trademark, used here only to describe the watches I work on.
I am not an authorised service centre and nothing I provide is a manufacturer document.
Refunds
If your photographs cannot answer the question, I will tell you and you pay nothing. That is the deal on the front page and it is the deal here.
If you have paid for a report and you are not satisfied with it, tell me and I will refund it. I would rather give the money back than argue.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA. Any dispute goes to the courts of the State of Wyoming, USA.
If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still stands.
