Vintage Omega ladies' watches
Most vintage Omega ladies' watches run on one of six small calibre families. Read the reference inside the caseback, find its calibre below, and you know whether it is automatic or hand-wound, which parts fit it, and, from the letters in front of the reference, whether the case is solid gold.
Reference counts and years are from Omega's vintage database. Sizes, jewels and beats are from Omega's GF 620 catalogues and technical guides.
Which calibre is in yours
Omega's database lists 306 references built on these six families, from 1954 to 1981. Omega's own technical guides call the 455 a calibre for small ladies' watches (1955) and the 620 a ladies' calibre (1961). The 670 was made for very thin ladies' models and smaller men's watches (1963), so the calibre alone doesn't make it a lady's watch: the case size does.
| Family | Winding | Size (mm) | Jewels | Beats an hour | Where you'll find it |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 455 | Automatic | 16.00 | 17 | 19,800 | The 1950s Ladymatic. About 40 hours on a full wind. |
| 480, 481, 482, 483, 484, 485 | Hand-wound | 12.50 wide, 15.20–15.50 long | 17 | 19,800 (485: 21,600) | Small shaped movements in Trésor, Saphette, Seamaster, De Ville and Genève cases. |
| 580, 650 | Hand-wound | 13.30 (580), 12.70 (650) | 17 | 21,600 (580), 19,800 (650) | The smallest round ones: Saphette and De Ville. The 580 runs about 42 hours. |
| 620, 625 | Hand-wound | 17.50 | 17 | 19,800 (620), 21,600 (625) | The biggest family: Constellation, De Ville, Genève and more. The 620 runs over 48 hours. |
| 660, 661, 662, 663 | Automatic | 15.40 | 17 or 24 | 19,800 (662, 663: 21,600) | 1960s and 1970s Ladymatic and De Ville. |
| 670, 671, 681, 684 and kin | Automatic | 17.50–18.00 | 17 or 24 | 19,800 (683–685: 21,600) | Ladymatic, Constellation, Genève, Seamaster and De Ville; also smaller men's watches. |
Sizes are as Omega printed them; the shaped 480 family is given as width by length. The calibre number is stamped on the movement itself. Tap a calibre for every part Omega lists for it.

How to identify yours
- Read the reference inside the caseback, such as OT 2837 or MD 551.0015. Type it into the free reference lookup: Omega's records give the model, the years and the calibre.
- Read the calibre on the movement. It should match the one the reference names. If it doesn't, the movement may have been swapped.
- Date it from the serial on the movement with the serial number lookup. The year should land in or after the reference's years.
- Measure the case. Where Omega's database gives a size, the ladies' cases run from 14.5 to about 23 mm across; most men's references of the same years are 32 to 38 mm.

Is it gold?
Nearly half are. Of the 306 references on these calibres, Omega's database lists 147 in solid gold cases. The letters in front of the reference tell you which:
| Letters | What Omega lists the case as |
|---|---|
| OT, BA | 18k solid gold, stamped 750 |
| AA | Solid yellow gold |
| BC | 18k solid white gold |
| BB | 18k solid pink gold |
| OJ, BD | 14k solid gold |
| KO, CD | Gold cap on stainless steel |
| BK, DW, KM | Gold-filled |
| JD, KD, LD, MD, ME | Gold-plated |
| CK, ST, MI | Stainless steel |
| RS | Sterling silver |
On a plated case, brass showing at the lug edges means the gold has worn through. Gold or plated? covers every mark, and Weigh your Omega turns a kitchen-scale weight into a gold value.

Are vintage Omega ladies' watches worth anything?
Yes, and the reference tells you where to start. A solid gold case has a floor value in the gold alone, even if the movement doesn't run. Beyond that, a watch is worth what the same reference, with its correct calibre, has actually sold for: use the “What they sold for” links on this page rather than asking prices. A swapped movement or a redone dial lowers it. What's my Omega worth? explains the method.
Not sure what you have?
Six photos and the weight, and I check the reference, calibre, serial and dial against Omega's own records and put it in writing. Nothing to pay until I confirm the photos can answer it.
Parts: search by number, not by calibre
The small calibres share most of their parts, so the part number matters more than the calibre on the listing:
- 455: of the 101 part numbers Omega's GF 620-3 lists, only 13 carry a 455 number and 52 are 450 parts, so a 450 donor feeds a 455.
- 661: differs from the 17-jewel 660 by seven parts, its own automatic and rotor bridges and the extra jewels.
- 671: owns three parts of its own; everything else is 670.
- 681: owns one part of its own, 681.1031. The rest come from the 670, 671 and 680.
The parts finder gives the factory number for each part and every calibre it fits, with eBay searches ready to go.

Questions people ask
How do I identify my vintage Omega ladies' watch?
Read the reference number inside the caseback and type it into the free reference lookup: Omega's records give the model, the years and the calibre. The calibre number on the movement should match it, and the serial on the movement dates it.
What movement is in a vintage Omega ladies' watch?
Usually one of six small calibre families: the 455, the 480 to 485, the 580 and 650, the 620 and 625, the 660 to 663, or the 670 to 685. The reference inside the caseback tells you which one should be there.
Are vintage Omega ladies' watches worth anything?
Yes. Omega's database lists 147 of the 306 references on these calibres in solid gold, and a gold case has a floor value in the gold alone. Beyond that, a watch is worth what the same reference with its correct calibre has actually sold for, not what sellers ask.
Is my vintage Omega ladies' watch automatic or hand-wound?
It depends on the calibre. The 455, the 660 to 663 and the 670 to 685 are automatic. The 480 to 485, the 580, the 650, the 620 and the 625 are hand-wound.
Is my vintage Omega ladies' watch gold?
Read the letters in front of the reference. Omega lists OT and BA as 18k solid gold, AA as solid yellow gold, BC as 18k white gold, OJ and BD as 14k gold, KO and CD as gold cap on steel, BK, DW and KM as gold-filled, JD, KD, LD, MD and ME as gold-plated, and CK, ST and MI as steel.
How old is my vintage Omega ladies' watch?
The serial number on the movement dates when the movement was made; the serial number lookup gives the year band. The references on these calibres run from 1954 to 1981.
